San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner has been placed on the disabled list after suffering injuries in a dirt bike accident in Denver, the team announced Friday.
Bumgarner went dirt biking in Denver during the team’s day off on Thursday, sustaining an injury to the AC joint of his pitching shoulder.
According to the Giants, the 2014 World Series MVP has been released from the hospital and is resting at the team’s hotel. This is the first time Bumgarner has been placed on the disabled list. The Giants will reevaluate Bumgarner next week; however, the expectation is that he will miss six to eight weeks, according to Ken Rosenthal.
The struggling Giants are 6-10, last in the NL West. Madison Bumgarner is 0-3 in four starts with a 3.00 ERA.
