Feast or Famine: Four GPP picks to make or break your lineups

Written by: Ronnie Vaughan – Staff Writing Intern (@AyePaisano)

Alright everyone I am here to give you four GPP only plays that will make or break you lineups.  Now it must be known that these plays are not safe by any means and they need to be taken with a grain of salt.  I am playing off of projected ownership levels. Let’s dive in:

Jamal Murray – DEN

Some might ask why not play Jameer Nelson, he’s seen better minutes recently.  Well as you may or may not know Emmanuel Mudiay and Danilo Gallinari are listed as out and this game features the highest total on the slate at 225.5.  According to Rotogrinders Court IQ, Murray has scored the 2nd most FPTS on Denver when the two are both not on the floor.  The first being Wilson Chandler. Murray also receives a +1.3% usage bump in this situation.  I don’t think many people are going to be on this play, which is why it makes for a great spot to toss him in a GPP lineup against an atrocious defender in Dennis Schroder.

Bojan Bogdanovich – BKN

The man has seen a nice uptick in minutes over the last 4 games, in the upper 20s low 30s.  He is a known shooter and can let it rip whether or not he is hot.  He is currently playing really well at the moment, low price and Lavert is out which really solidifies his minutes.  I expect that he will see Otto Porter defense which is something that I have been picking on all season.  This is an uptick in pace game for the Wizards with a nice total at 221 so I a expecting a back and forth bout.  Is there a chance for blowout? Certainly.  The line is Wiz -9 but it is in Brooklyn therefore I believe that lowers the risk.  The Brooklyn lineup has been influx a lot recently but I believe Bojan provides great GPP upside at a decently low ownership.

Tony Allen – MEM

Look, I don’t expect many of you to like this pick at all.  You don’t have to pick up what I am drinking here because it could be dangerous.  But you have to understand the Grizzlies projected to score 7-8 more points than their season average which is tops on the board today.  His main responsibility will be to shut down Booker and Bledsoe (to a lesser degree).  With that being said I expect Tony to receive a slight bump in minutes with old man Vince Carter resting tonight.  Tony put up 20 FDP in their last outing in only 19 minutes.  I’m expecting closer to 30 minutes out of him in this matchup. We have seen 40 point upside from Tony this season and you’re not going to find many better matchups for him than this.

Dwyane Wade – CHI

Wade is currently listed as a GTD.  Butler is listed as out.  All signs sorta lead to the Bulls punting this game with the way they have been playing recently, right? Wrong.  This is a perfect spot to get Wade at a low ownership because many DFS players do not want to take the risk of Wade being ruled out and having it mess up their rosters.  This is why you play him on a team or two in GPPs and you keep him far away from your cash lineup.  If Wade plays, he has an awesome matchup.  If he doesn’t play, well then your lineup is at the bottom of the barrel and that’s okay because no one will see you all the way down there. Huge risk but a very nice reward if he hits you with a 6-7X game.
