NFL: Daily Fantasy Football picks for DraftKings and FanDuel – Wildcard weekend

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writer (@Fantasyphilled)

Welcome to the playoffs! For the next two weeks there will still be plenty of DFS action to be had as there are four games each of the next two weekends. With that said, the player pools are smaller so I will be touting less players. The biggest take I’ve seen this week, with regards to roster construction, is how many Pittsburgh players too much?

Russell Wilson (QB) – DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel: $7,700 – Seattle Seahawks

I believe the two heavier owned Qbs this week will be Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. With that said, I think Wilson will steal the show at home against the Detroit Lions. The Seahawks still have not found a run game that they have been comfortable with and I can see Wilson chucking the ball all over the field. He is also playing at home where has scored and average of 5 DK points more than on the road. I think Wilson is a bit contrarian, and could deliver great value with his rushing potential.

Le’Veon Bell (RB) – DraftKings: $10,300, FanDuel: $10,300 – Pittsburgh Steelers

He is by far the most expensive play and could still garner an over 50% ownership rate in GPPs, and probably even higher in cash games. He is automatic lock is cash games where he is facing the Dolphins Def who has been torn apart, and is essentially coming off a bye week since he sat out the Steelers Week 17 contest. Lock and load!

Lamar Miller (RB) – DraftKings: $6,100, FanDuel: $7,100 – Houston Texans

I don’t see the coaching staff trusting any QB option that they go with on Sunday so I’m expecting the Houston Texans to load Lamar Miller up with as many touches as he can handle against an Oakland team that is allowing 117.6 rushing yards against per game this season. Miller has been ‘resting’ for two weeks now and should be ready for a huge day at home.

Jordy Nelson (WR) – DraftKings: $8,000, FanDuel: $8,500 – Green Bay Packers

This position is where I’m finding it most difficult to choose. There seems to be a lot of great spots for the top receivers this weekend and it will definitely be the make-or-break part of my lineups. I believe that Nelson has just as high of a ceiling as Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham, and is considerably cheaper than both. I am fading Brown completely this week as I expect the Steelers to get off to an early lead and have Bell run away with it. Nelson has three games over 30 DK points this season and he could be in for another big game at home against the Giants.

Doug Baldwin (WR) – DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel: $6,900 – Seattle Seahawks

He is the definition of a perfect GPP play this weekend. He could go under owned simply because people decide to pay up for Bell and another top WR. I love pairing Baldwin with Wilson simply because we have seen this connection go deep more than once in a game which could catapult you in to some serious cash this weekend. I love the GPP aspect of this play.

Jarvis Landry (WR) – DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel: $6,400 – Miami Dolphins

I’m expecting the Steelers to run away with this one, so with that, I’m anticipating lots of catchup mode for the Dolphins. Last week Landry nine receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. I see a very similar line in a game where the Dolphins will be needing to throw the ball to move the chains. He is too cheap on DraftKings to fade.

C.J. Fiedorowicz (TE) – DraftKings: $4,200, FanDuel: $5,300 – Houston Texans

The TE spot is such a wasteland this weekend. I am finding it very hard to pay up for Jimmy Graham, which keeps having me land on Fiedorowicz. Brock Osweiller will be starting and they have shown pretty good chemistry this season. If Osweiller is just trying to find easy passes to move the chains, Fiedorowicz should be in for a monster game.

Houston Texans (DEF) – DraftKings: $3,800, FanDuel: $4,800

Even though they will have a heavy portion of the ownership this week, I am not going to be fading them at home against a third string QB and a rookie backup left tackle. The Texans DEF has shown to still be great even with the loss of J.J. Watt early this season. Lock and load in a home playoff game!
