Daily fantasy NBA basketball picks for DraftKings and FanDuel – 12.20.16

Written by: Coleman Bahr – Staff Writer (@ColemanBahr)

We have a huge, eleven-game slate on our hands today, and it should be tons of fun. We have a few games with huge totals, and the NBA’s best will be on display tonight. Let’s get to it!

| Point Guards

Kyrie Irving – DraftKing: $7,400, FanDuel: $7,500 – Cleveland Cavaliers

With Kevin Love out for this game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Kyrie Irving and Lebron James have to pick up the slack. With Love off the court, Irving sees an uptick in usage from 30.9% to 38.2%, making him an ideal play in all formats. The price tag wont weigh you down either, so you can still pair him with some of the top names on the slate.

Giannis Antetokounmpo – DraftKings: $9,800, FanDuel: $10,200 – Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo, or The Alphabet, is in another great spot tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers. While the Cavs limit a point guard’s upside, The Alphabet isn’t your average point guard. He leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, and he should be asked to carry the load yet again tonight. This game should also stay close due to Kevin Love’s absence.

Also consider: Chris Paul (LAC)

| Shooting Guards

Gary Harris – DraftKings: $5,000, FanDuel: $4,800 – Denver Nuggets

Gary Harris has averaged almost 34 DraftKings points per game since his return from injury, and Denver finds themselves in a high scoring game again tonight. While the Clippers are ranked third against shooting guards this season, they have surrendered the seventh most DraftKings points per game in their last five contests, so Harris makes for a sneaky play tonight, especially if it stays close.

James Harden – DraftKings: $11,100, FanDuel: $11,000 – Houston Rockets

If you decide to fade The Alphabet, James Harden can fill the point guard/shooting guard position, depending on what site you play. Harden is at his cheapest price point in some time, and while this a slower paced game for the Rockets, it should stay close throughout, allowing Harden to play his full allotment of minutes. We all know what Harden can do in close games, and I wouldn’t rule out a 70-burger from him tonight.

| Small Forwards

Lebron James – DraftKings: $9,600, FanDuel: $10,400 – Cleveland Cavaliers

Much like Kyrie Irving, Lebron James has to pick up the slack with the absence of Kevin Love. The Bucks dominated their last meeting, so James should have some extra motivation to win this one, and he should hit between 50-55 points fantasy points tonight.

Gordon Hayward – DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel: $8,000 – Utah Jazz

The Jazz play at one of the slowest paces in the league, but they will see a much faster pace of play when they take on the Warriors tonight. This uptick in pace leads to an increase in opportunity, along with a few injuries which will also open up some shots. If the Jazz want to keep pace with the Warriors, Hayward will have to lead the charge, and with a price decrease over the past week, this is a great spot for Hayward.

| Power Forwards

Kristaps Porzingis – DraftKings: $7,800, FanDuel: $7,800 – New York Knicks

Not only is Kristaps Porzingis becoming one of the premier power forwards in this league, but he also gets a cupcake matchup against the Indiana Pacers. Porzingis can drop 50 on any given day, and you can’t get a better matchup than this. You can comfortably play him in any format, and expect 5x value.

Ryan Anderson – DraftKings: $5,000, FanDuel: $5,100 – Houston Rockets

Ryan Anderson is the definition of a tournament play, and tonight is no different. He has hit 6x value in three of the last four games, but he has a floor around 10 points. He thrives when the game is close, and as long as his shot is falling, he seems to be in line for another great performance tonight.

| Centers

Myles Turner – DraftKings: $6,300, FanDuel: $6,300 – Indiana Pacers

This is a great spot for Myles Turner against a weak New York Knicks frontcourt. He just dominated the Washington frontcourt for 20 points, and 8 rebounds last night, and I expect much of the same today. He has posted at least 39 DraftKings points in two his last three, and his potential for a 40-point night makes him a great play in any format.

Jahlil Okafor – DraftKings: $5,500, FanDuel: $5,200 – Philadelphia 76ers

Jahlil Okafor is the cash game center I will be targeting this evening. With Nerlens Noel out of the rotation, this opens up minutes for Okafor, and his floor is around 5x tonight. He has only gone under 26 DraftKings points once this month, but he shot 0-10 from the field in that game, so that is mainly an anomaly.
