| Christian McCaffrey will forego Sun Bowl to prepare for NFL Draft

Stanford Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey will not play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on December 30 in order to prepare for the NFL Draft and to prevent a possible injury.

“Very tough decision, but I have decided not to play in the Sun Bowl so I can begin my draft prep immediately,” McCaffrey wrote on Twitter. “Thx to all my teammates for their 100% support — It means a lot to me. Go Cardinal!”

| Jimbo Fisher extended as head coach at Florida State University

Jimbo Fisher has agreed to a contract extension with Florida State through the 2024 season, the school announced on Monday afternoon.

Fisher will reportedly earn $5.55 million per season starting next year, a $300,000 raise from his current salary, making him the fifth-highest paid coach in the country.

“I am proud to be the football coach at Florida State University, and I am happy we were able to reach a long-term contract to have our staff in place for a long time,” Fisher said in a statement.  “We are committed to developing young men in all phases of their lives and we have the administrative staff in place to do this.  Florida State is a special place and I look forward to continuing to build on our past success into the future.”

Fisher reportedly turned down a $6.8 million offer from Louisiana State University to stay in Tallahassee for the foreseeable future.

| “I’m the best player in the country.” – Deshaun Watson

Despite Heisman Trophy voters voting Lamar Jackson as the best player in college football, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson believes he is the best player in the country.

“I’m the best player in the country. That’s how I think. That’s how I feel. People have their own way of voting,” Watson said Monday as Clemson concluded their first week of practice in preparation of their College Football Playoff bout with Ohio State.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney supported his quarterback’s bold claims saying, “I think Deshaun is so good, people are numb to it.”
