NCAA College Basketball Preview: #5 Oregon Ducks

The quack attack is back. Well, if Dillon Brooks is healthy. He had an off season foot surgery and is recovering slowly. I personally feel that if a player has a chance at the NBA then there is no reason to rush a player back to college and potentially ruin their future. Last year Brooks played almost 33 minutes a game and averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Brooks is the type of player the NBA is trending toward, I expect big things out of him if he can get healthy.

Last year Oregon was a 1 seed but lost in the elite 8 to Oklahoma. They had an overall record of 31-7 and a Pac-12 record of 14-4. For a power conference, the Pac-12 seems to get very little respect. Fans were outraged last season when Oregon got a 1 seed.  Unfortunately, the fans were right. The Ducks didn’t look very good in the tournament, almost losing to St Josephs in the second round. Oregon returns Dillon Brooks, Tyler Dorsey and Chris Boucher. We know the defense will be back this year, the offense is what will put this team over the top.

The elite defense the Ducks have will be enough to put them in the second weekend of the tournament. Of course if Dillon Brooks can’t play, this prediction will be completely different. A stretch for the Ducks would be getting past the Elite 8. Oregon’s is going to have a tough regular season with 3 Pac 12 teams in the top 25 and a handful more on the outskirts. Oregon will be a good storyline to follow if they can stay healthy.
