Daily Fantasy NHL Hockey: Top Three Stacks and Value Plays – 11.1.16

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writer (@FantasyPhilled)

This Tuesday segment will be directed at my top three line stacks, top three value plays, and my top three goalie plays of the night! I have had my biggest returns in GPPs and Cash games when I do a combination of certain line stacks. Stacking a line in a great matchup allows you to maximize you point totals, especially when everyone on the line can chip in!

San Jose Sharks line #1

Joe Thornton (C) – DraftKings: $5,600, FanDuel: $5,400

Joe Pavelski (W) – DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel: $7,900

Mikkel Boedker (W) – DraftKings: $4,400, FanDuel: $3,800

This line scream fantasy goodness tonight with a matchup against the lousy Arizona Coyotes. Boedker has not done much this season for the Sharks, so you may stick with Thornton and Pavelski in cash games, but if you are looking to get the most bang for your buck, adding Boedker, who is skating on the first line, is a great play!

Columbus Blue Jackets line #1

Alex Wennberg (C) – DraftKings: $4,400, FanDuel: $4,700

Brandon Saad (W) – DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel: $6,400

Nick Foligno (W) – DraftKings: $4,100, FanDuel: $5,300

If for some reason you didn’t know that the Dallas Stars goalie duo is not up to par yet this season, well here is your lucky reminder. The Stars have allowed a combined 15 goals in their four road games this season. The Blue Jackets have, on the other hand, have only scored one goal or less in just one game this season. Wennberg leads this line with seven points in seven games and Saad has five points in those same seven games. This line is one of my favourite stacks for their price tonight!

Ottawa Senators line #1

Derek Brassard (C) – DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel: $5,400

Bobby Ryan (W) – DraftKings: $5,300, FanDuel: $5,000

Ryan Dzingel (W) – DraftKings: $3,800, FanDuel: $3,900

I am expecting big things from the number one line in Ottawa tonight as they host the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have allowed 3.75 goals against per game this season and I am forecasting a big day for the Senators tonightat home. Much like the Blue Jackets line, this trio is fairly cheap which means you can spend up in other places, or add in your Edmonton Oilers stack if you wish! Bobby Ryan has a great floor as he is a known shooter and has 18 shots in just eight games this season. Dzingel is a great value play tonight as he has been amazing on a point per dollar ratio and will surely exceed his value tonight!

Top Three Value Plays

I could have used a combination of any three players in my line stacks, but I will add in three new players, one from each position (C/W/D) to spice up this article!

Leon Draisaitl (C) – DraftKings: $5,200, FanDuel: $5,300 – Edmonton Oilers

If you’re looking to fade the Oilers top line in GPPs, which I’m guessing could be a very chalky play tonight in Toronto, Draisaitl is a great option. He continues to play on the first power play line and should see plenty of chances tonightagainst a Maple Leafs team that is struggling on the back end to say the least.

Tanner Pearson (W) – DraftKings: $5,200, FanDuel: $5,200 – Los Angeles Kings

Tanner Pearson has his a bit of a dry spell in his past three games as he has not found the scoresheet. Tonight, I have him on a bounce back game as he is slated to skate on the first line with Anze Kopitar against the Arizona Coyotes. Pearson comes in to the contest averaging three shots per game which gives him a great floor.

Mark Methot (D) – DraftKings: $2,800, FanDuel: $3,600 – Ottawa Senators

If you are looking at your lineup and just can’t seem to find a way of getting Erik Karlsson in your lineup tonight, look no further than his defence partner. Methot may only have two points on the year, but 10 blocked shots and 15 shots on net are a basis for a great floor on a D-man who just needs one assist to power through his value. If the Senators score in bunches today, which I expect they will, Methot could easily find himself on the score sheet and leading your team to a nice cash.

Top Three Goalie Plays

Braden Holtby (G) – DraftKings: $8,200, FanDuel: $9,500 – Washington Capitals

Holtby is always a stud to have in your net if you are looking for a win. Tonight the Capitals are on the road to face the Winnipeg Jets, who have averaged 2.44 goals for per game this season. The Capitals are very heavy favourites on the road and I am expecting his ownership to be lower than usual with there being a good amount of options at the top of goalie category tonight.

Martin Jones (G) – DraftKings: $8,200, FanDuel: $8,700 – San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks are the biggest favourite on tonight’s slate, and that is even with being on the road. Jones was actually slightly better in favour of his road splits last season, and while it hasn’t been the case this year, I can see him getting out of his early season funk. He is my top goalie on FanDuel tonight with his price point.

Roberto Luongo (G) – DraftKings: $7,700, FanDuel: $8,700 – Florida Panthers

Roberto Luongo has been great on home ice this season and tonight they host the Boston Bruins who are missing a couple key pieces. Aside from the Minnesota Wild, the Panthers are the biggest home favourite tonight according to Las Vegas. I think he makes a great play across all plat forms as well as in both cash games and GPPs.
