Parksie’s Picks: Betting Tips for Week Three of College Football

Written by: David Parks – Staff Writing Intern (@_Parskie)

Best Bet: Utah -3 vs. USC

Just can’t resist. Three points??? At Utah?? I must be missing something because USC is less than a week off sending eight guys out for a PAT attempt and a couple of days off their coach having to deny he’d been hit at practice.

The Trojans announced they were making a quarterback change from Max Browne to Sam Darnold. It just seems like USC is in utter chaos right now. Being a Tennessee alum – it reminds me of the Dooley years.

If you’ve read the power rankings, you’ll know I’ve loved Utah all year. Kyle Whittingham vs. Clay Helton? Yeah, I’m gonna take Whittingham in that every day of the week. Home game + Friday night + three points? Yes please.

Final: Utah 27 USC 20

Next Best Bet: Florida/Tennessee under 43.5

Not sure there’s a team that needs to win a game more this weekend than Tennessee. Through the first three games, the Vols have looked pedestrian at best, and downright putrid along the offensive line.  Not good when the nation’s number one defense comes to town.

However, for as good as Florida’s defense has been, here are Florida’s opponents so far with their Sagarin Ratings:

UMass (123rd)

Kentucky (85th)

North Texas (157th)

Needless to say, the Gators haven’t exactly been tested. And now, starting quarterback Luke Del Rio is out meaning transfer Austin Appleby will get the start in Neyland on Saturday. I think both offenses are in for a long day – in the end I’d lean slightly to Tennessee for the sole reason it being at home.

Final: Tennessee 17 Florida 9

Last but not Least: Marshall +27 vs. Louisville

Ultimate sandwich spot for Louisville. Coming off a massive statement win on Saturday, the Cards have to go on the road to play Marshall before heading to Death Valley the following Saturday for a game that will likely decide the winner of the ACC Atlantic.

This is nothing more than a situational play. I don’t necessarily like Marshall or the number, but the spot makes the 27 bearable.

Final: Louisville 38 Marshall 24
