Daily Fantasy NFL Football Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel – Week 1

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writer (@FantasyPhilled)

The first week of the DFS season is here and I am going to sleep Saturday night feeling it is Christmas eve! Waking upSunday morning may be the cherry on top of my amazing summer! I am looking forward to another full year of Fantasy Football and excited to share my thoughts and opinions you you loyal readers of The Grandstand. With out further ado, because of the pricing coming out so early in the DFS world, there are many ‘chalk’ plays this week. Players such as Dak Prescott (QB), Spencer Ware (RB), DeAngelo Williams (RB), Martellus Bennett (TE), and the Arizona Cardinals (DEF) all come to mind! If you are fading those players this week, here are some of my favourite plays from the upcoming Week 1 games.

Matthews Stafford (QB) – DraftKings: $7,200, FanDuel: $7,400 – Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions faces the Indianapolis Colts in what is tied for the highest total in Vegas, set at 51. Looking at Vegas odds and totals will be a huge help to any DFS player this season as it is a great place for cheap information, especially with this game shaping up to be a shoot out! Stafford has some news toys this season on the offence, and I’m expecting a very big game from him against a poor Defense. I have Stafford with over 275 yards and 3 Tds.

Christine Michael (RB) – DraftKings: $3,700, FanDuel: $4,800 – Seattle Seahawks

I really wish I would have had more time to do this segment earlier in the week when I first figured that Christine Michael would be the lead back in Seattle this weekend. On Friday, reports out of Seattle said that Michael would start, and that Rawls would work from the bench. While I hope that people still shy away from this backfield, I am 100% on board with Michael week 1. Nothing about this matchup is scary, and I firmly believe that Seattle will come out on fire on both ends of the ball, making this a running game for Seattle. Michael is my top value for dollar play at the RB position as I’m predicting a +100 yard game with two catches and a TD.

Lamar Miller (RB) – DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel: $7,600 – Houston Texans

I see this as a coming out game for Lamar Miller and the Houston Texans. Their offence is essentially brand new, aside from their go-to WR DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans signed QB Brock Osweiller and Miller in the offseason and I see dollar signs everywhere. While I’m not as high on Osweiller just yet, I think that Lamar Miller will be the biggest part of this offence. The Houston O-Line is one of the best in the league, and the coaching staff knows how to use their Rbs to maximize production. Miller was a top 5 RB last season with the Miami Dolphins behind one of the worst O-Lines in the league. I’m predicting 132 combined yards, 5 catches and two Tds from the newcomer.

Marvin Jones Jr. (WR) – DraftKings: $4,600, FanDuel: $5,500 – Detroit Lions

This one may have been a little obvious if you are reading in to my trend of the week, which is that I think the Lions and Colts game will breed the most fruitful options in the air game this weekend, yes even above the Oakland Raiders at New Orleans Saints game. Jones played last season behind A.J. Green in Cincinnati last season and managed 68 receptions for 848 yards and 4 Tds. I’m expecting him to beat all of those totals this year with the newly improved offence that the Lions will be displaying this weekend. I still believe that people are not buying the hype with the Lions this offseason and that people are worried about who will be the top player from the Lions this year. I’m not worried at all. I believe that bothGolden Tate (WR) and Jones can be 90 catch 1000 yard Wrs this season as Jim Bob Cooter and Stafford display the air attack this year. I’m predicting 7 catches for 103 yards and a TD.

Julio Jones (WR) – DraftKings: $9,400, FanDuel: $9,000 – Atlanta Falcons

It does not take a brain surgeon to figure our that Julio Jones is my top WR play of the week as he is priced such across the industry. What I’m more hoping for is that people decide to roll with three Wrs in the second tier instead of paying up for Jones. I can see him still being very highly owned across the board, but I am confident he will be the top scoring WR this Sunday against a lowsy Tampa Bay Buccaneers DEF that he light up last season with 20 catches, 255 yards and a TD. I’m predicting an 11 catch 152 yard, 2 TD performance from Jones.

Delanie Walker (TE) – DraftKings: $4,500, FanDuel: $6,500 – Tennessee Titans

I much prefer Delanie Walker on DraftKings this weekend, but I won’t hold it against you if you want to play him on both sites. Walker is a great value play on DraftKings this weekend as I believe he could be the top TE from Sunday. Walker has great chemistry with Marcus Mariota (QB) and will look to continue to build off a great 2015 season. Walker is the only starting receiver who played last season with the Titans and their top two Wrs are Tajae Sharp (WR), who is a rookie, andRishard Williams (WR), who was acquired this offseason in free agency. I’m looking for a solid game from the Titans, and Walker having 7 receptions for 77 yards and a TD.

Houston Texans (DEF) – DraftKings: $3,200, FanDuel: $4,900

For me, I am only using the Texans on DraftKings this weekend because of their price point. If you are playing on FanDuel I would suggest either the Los Angeles Rams (DEF) or the Tennessee Titans (DEF). The Texans have one of the best DEF in the league and will get to face the Chicago Bears who are prone to turnovers and sacks. I am expecting J.J. Watt to come out swinging and the Texans to bull over the Bears. Add in some turnover and sacks, what more could you ask for!?
