Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball: Batting Order Trends to Exploit on DraftKings and FanDuel – 8.1.16

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writing Intern (@FantasyPhilled)

Welcome to another segment of Leading Off with Phillip Beneteau. In this daily segment I highlight leadoff hitters to target as well as players who were moved up in the batting order which will spike their value for the day. As most DFS MLB players know, hitting leadoff and near the top of the order is huge for DFS potential, especially if it is a player who is just being moved up because of injury or simply in a great match up.

Brian Dozier (2B) – DraftKings: $3,800, FanDuel: $3,200 – Minnesota Twins

Since the All Star break, Brian Dozier has showed a great spark off the bat. Dozier has a batting average of .323 post All Star break, with an OPS of 1.018. Dozier has 10 hits in 21 at bats against pitcher Danny Salazer including two home runs. I love Dozier tonight as he is still cheap across the DFS platforms, but is heating up, as is evidence last night with his two home run game!

Javier Baez (2B/3B/SS) – DraftKings: $3,900, FanDuel: $3,200 – Chicago Cubs

Baez has incredible left-handed pitching splits this season. He has a batting average of .363, a .433 on base percentage, and a 1.008 OPS. All of those lineup for a great night against left-handed pitcher Adam Conley who has a 3.88 ERA on the road this season. You can mini-stack Baez and Kris Bryant (3B) on both sites tonight, which makes for a very yummy mini-stack sandwich!

Lorenzo Cain (OF) – DraftKings: $3,600, FanDuel: $3,600 – Kansas City Royals

I have a sneaky feeling that the Royals will be a great place to find hitters tonight. When you look in to the matchup against pitcher Chris Archer, you will see that there are several starting players who have great batting averages against Archer. Lorenzo Cain is one of those players as he has five hits in seven at bats against Archer, including a home run and four RBIs. Other players I like from the Royals tonight for an under-the-radar stack are Alcides Escobar (SS), Kendrys Morales (1B), and Sal Perez (C).

Anthony Rendon (3B) – DraftKings: $4,000, FanDuel: $3,600 – Washington Nationals

For starters, if I knew that Daniel Murphy was playing tonight, I would be using this spot on him. With his status being uncertain, I will pivot to Anthony Rendon who is starting to heat up. Rendon is a very streaky player and one that you want to jump on right now! He is currently riding a four game hitting streak and has hits in eight of his last 11 games. In those 11 games, Rendon has three home runs, three doubles and three stolen bases. He is a player that can get you points in every facet of the game.

Seattle Mariners Stack

If you watched last night’s Sunday Night Baseball game against the Chicago Cubs, you saw a team that can get runs and smash home runs. Tonight will be the same as they face pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez. There is nothing scary about this matchup as Rodriguez has allowed 16 runs including four home runs in just 20.0 innings on the road this season. Players I love against left-handed pitcher Rodriguez are Nelson Cruz (OF), Franklin Gutierrez (OF), Robinson Cano (2B) andDae-Ho Lee (1B).

Good luck tonight, and send me some questions if you’d like! Also feel free to tweet me pictures of your lineups if they won you some money!
