Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball: Batting Order Trends to Exploit on DraftKings and FanDuel – 7.30.16

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writing Intern (@FantasyPhilled)

Welcome to another segment of Leading Off with Phillip Beneteau. In this daily segment I highlight leadoff hitters to target as well as players who were moved up in the batting order which will spike their value for the day. As most DFS MLB players know, hitting leadoff and near the top of the order is huge for DFS potential, especially if it is a player who is just being moved up because of injury or simply in a great match up.

Carlos Gonzalez (OF) – DraftKings: $4,400, FanDuel: $3,300 – Colorado Rockies

Carlos Gonzalez will face pitcher Bartolo Colon who is pitching on short rest for the first time since 2005. Colon is not a young pup anymore, and he has been exchanging good starts and bad starts lately, it’s time for a bad start. Gonzalez is currently riding a 10 game hitting streak, crushes right-handed pitching and has four hits on seven at bats, including two home runs against Colon. He is my top play of the night!

Adrian Beltre (3B) – DraftKings: $4,100, FanDuel: $3,400 – Texas Rangers

Adrian Beltre has six multi hit games in his last nine games. Beltre also has great home splits. He has three hits in seven at bats, including a home run against pitcher Ian Kennedy.

Giancarlo Stanton (OF) – DraftKings: $4,800, FanDuel: $3,800 – Miami Marlins

Giancarlo Stanton is starting to wake up after having a batting average of just .233 prior to the All Star break. Stanton has a batting average of .291 since the All Star break and has a batting average of .278 against left-handed pitching this season. Stanton has four hits, including a home run, in five at bats against pitcher Jamie Garcia.

Yadier Molina (C) – DraftKings: $3,500, FanDuel: $2,900 – St. Louis Cardinals

Yadier Molina is heating up lately with four straight multi-hit games and is currently riding a 13 game hitting streak. Molina has great away and night game splits and a solid track record against pitcher Colin Rea. Molina has four hits, including a home run and three RBIs in seven at bats against Rea.

| Pittsburgh Pirates Stack

I am going to advocate a nice little Starling Marte (OF), Josh Harrison (2B) and Jordy Mercer (SS) stack tonightagainst pitcher Chase Anderson. Marte has been great since the All Star break and is currently riding a five game hitting streak. Marte has three hits including a home run in seven at bats against Anderson. Harrison has three hits in five at bats including a home run, against Anderson. Mercer has five hits in six at bats against pitcher Anderson, and as Harrison and Mercer are on the cheaper side, you can load up on some higher end players with great upside!

Good luck tonight, and send me some questions if you’d like! Also feel free to tweet me pictures of your lineups if they won you some money!
