Poland vs. Portugal
We could be preparing for a very long game today at 3pm in France. Both Poland and Portugal are not playing high scoring soccer right now, except for the Portugal-Hungary game that ended in a 3-3 draw.
Poland comes into this game coming off of win that came in penalty kicks against Switzerland. Switzerland whom looked like the better team majority of the match was just not able to get it done when it came to winning the game. Poland’s defense has been the main topic of conversation for them as they have only given up one goal in the tournament, and it was to an overhead kick by a Swiss player. The scariest thing about Poland is that they have made it to the quarterfinals with their best player, Lewandowski, being virtually absent. Portugal reaches the quarterfinals after a grinded out match with Croatia that finished in extra time. Portugal has been in poor form this tournament, but has mentioned to claw themselves all the way to the quarters. I want to say that someone will win this game 1-0, but with Ronaldo you never know when he might go off for 2 or 3 goals out of nowhere. Although, I see this very unlikely going against a solid, defensive Polish team.
Portugal definitely has the potential in winning this one and getting onto the next round…but if I had to choose a winner, I am going with Poland. They have had stellar defense this whole tournament, and have been able to win without very good play from Lewandowski. Part of me tells me his time is coming, and I am banking it coming tomorrow.
