Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball: Leading Off – Batting Order Trends – Tuesday, June 28th, 2016

Written by: Phillip Beneteau – Staff Writing Intern (@FantasyPhilled)

Welcome to another segment of Leading Off with Phillip Beneteau. In this daily segment I highlight leadoff hitters to target as well as players who were moved up in the batting order which will spike their value for the day. As most DFS MLB players know, hitting leadoff and near the top of the order is huge for DFS potential, especially if it is a player who is just being moved up because of injury or simply in a great match up. With this being a large slate, I am going to focus on some bats duos I love as well as some non-Coors Field stacks!

| Players to Target

Mike Trout (OF) – $4,900 DraftKings, $4,300 FanDuel – Los Angeles Angels

Mike Trout comes in at a slight discount of DraftKings where he is 10th priced OF on tonight’s slate while he is the third most expensive OF on FanDuel. Trout may very well go under owned tonight as the Coors bats will be out in full force especially against a potent Blue Jays offense. In the last 20 at bats against pitcher Scott Feldman, Tout is batting .300 with two home runs and four RBIs. Let’s start tonight off with a bang and use Mike Trout tonight as my home run call of the night!

Adrian Gonzalez (1B) – $3,400 DraftKings, $3,000 FanDuel – Los Angeles Dodgers

For starters, make sure that Gonzalez is in the starting lineup tonight as he has been out of it the last two games. He did though, make pinch hitting appearances in both games, including being subbed in last game and having two at bats. I expect him to be back in the lineup against pitcher Chase Anderson as he has performed great in their head-to-heads in the past. Gonzalez is batting .364 in 11 at bats including a home run against Anderson. He comes in at an amazing value across the board tonight as he has yet to really find his bat this season. If you are using Gonzalez, Chase Utley (2B) is a great duo-stack here as he has also faired well against righties this season and Anderson.

Elvis Andrus (SS) – $3,400 DraftKings, $2,800 FanDuel – Texas Rangers

This is one of my favorite plays as I’ve found out that Andrus absolutely mashes left-handed pitchers. I had him in my segment last week when he went three for five and added a run and two RBIs when he was facing a lefty last week. This should be different as he has performed great against pitcher CC Sabathia in the past. He is batting a ridiculous .500 in 20 at bats including four RBIs. I love stacking him tonight with Adrian Beltre (3B) as he gets a very plus match up tonightand has batted .417 in the last 12 at bats against Sabathia.

Oswaldo Arcia (OF) – $3,200 DraftKings, $2,100 FanDuel – Tampa Bay Rays

He has found his swing in his last two games as he was traded to the Rays less than a week ago. He has back-to-back three hit games including a home run and two doubles. He is almost the minimum across the industry and is batting sixthtonight for the Rays as he has acceptable head to head results against pitcher Rick Porcello in the past. He is two for five with a home run in their match ups and makes a great contrarian play tonight. My favourite sneaky duo stack of the night is Arcia and Desmond Jennings (OF). Jennings is also coming to life lately with back-to-back games with home runs and has six hits in the 18 at bats against Porcello with a home run.

| Stacks to Target

Chicago Cubs Stack

This stack is by no means flying under the radar tonight as Kris Bryant and the cubs exploded last night for 11 runs.Tonight they have an even better match up against lefty pitcher Jake Lamb. I know everyone is probably in love with Kris Bryant (3B) already after his three home run, two doubles performance last night, but I think he has an encore fest tonightwith a double donger game! My two other plays in this stack are Ben Zobrist (2B) who is leading off for the Cubs tonightand Willson Contreras (C/OF) who is on a tear since being called up from the minors. He also crushes lefties, and Lamb is barely considered a starting pitcher at this point.

Miami Marlins Stack

This one may be obvious too, but when you face pitcher Mike Pelfrey, at Comerica Park, you stack the opposing team. Pelfrey has been pounded for 11 home runs in just 42 innings at home this season and you can expect some more fireworks when you see who’s in the lineup tonight. My favourite stack plays for the Marlins are Giancarlo Stanton (OF)who is batting .358 in his 13 at bats, including two home runs. Christian Yelich (OF) is another name I would not leave out tonight as he is a great righty pitching splits hitter in a great ball park and if you want to get the whole trio of OFs for the Marlins, I would play Ichiro Suziki (OF) as he will be on base plenty with the big bats knocking him in all day long.

Thanks for reading, tweet me if you have any questions about tonight’s slate! Good luck!
